British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
